Extra Gear
Excluding basics like a helmet, vest, gun, flashlight, knee pads, radio, cuffs and things like that. What are some other items that you guys think should be in your gear while making entries and why?
I carry a mirror, a gun shot kit, and a rubber ball to name a few. Oh yea, I also carry some 550 cord. This is for things that I think might be booby trapped, or for doors I don't want to be near when they open. I just tie it to the drawer, door handle, or what ever. Move back behind cover and pull the cord.

Wow, interesting ideas. Especially the tampons being used to soak up blood.
I'd probably carry some duct tape (for marking rooms I've been in to reduce backtracking and confusion, as well as crude weapons repair and detaining enemies), PDA w/ GPS capabilites (for writing down notes electronically, such as locations of enemies and hostages) and a roll of fishing wire (for strangulation, if in a position where my enemy is in front of me). I'd also keep a copy of notes that I've taken from this site, if I don't remember all the tactics I learnt from this site; probably on the PDA I mentioned before.

Anyone besides me carry a couple of door wedges? I have found that these are very handy items to have. I have found several uses for them, including:
Defense;
1. barricading yourself into a room.
2. Securing your six
3. Funneling people into a kill zone
4. propping open doors to establish fields of fire
-best used when you leave the door open enough for you to shoot out of but closed enough that they can not get in to get you without a struggle
Offense;
1. Propping open doors to ventilate after an OP in a gas environment
2. containing barricaded opponents
3. improvised distraction devises that can be thrown into a room prior to entry
I'm sure that their are other uses. If you think of any let me know.

Breaching Tomahawks are always useful, just make sure you get something quality that can hack through entry ways quick. also, i prefer a few sets of flex cuffs on the back of my gear, it makes it easier when your buddy needs em. the ASP tri-folds are a bit of a pain in the ass to unfold and use, but they do stay compact in my gear hooks on my vest.

Silly string for tripwires for sure.Jack wrote:I carry a mirror, a gun shot kit, and a rubber ball to name a few. Oh yea, I also carry some 550 cord. Re:
Chemlights are great for that. Duct tape wouldn't be as good, don't you think?jimothy_183 wrote:I think glowsticks used for the same purpose too but I think they both have their own benefits and drawbacks.Harry Miste wrote:I'd probably carry some duct tape (for marking rooms I've been in to reduce backtracking and confusionbefore.

Sorry to hear that Badger.
Let us hope he will fully recover from the gunshots, and be able to continue living a rich full life.
Best regards, Bjarne.
