code words

Post by Jack » Sun Dec 14, 2008 10:52 pm

Dose anybody use code words when playing airsoft. I'll give an example.
The theme is Water.

Shark=bad guy
treasure island=bad guy base
boat=your base
dive=flank or flanking
marco=cover me

That way when the shooting starts you can communicate loudly with other team members without letting the other team know that you are "diving" or should I say, "flanking".

We use code for team identification to prevent blue on blue shooting.
And switch the code on timebased interval.

9h-10h Challenge : BULL Responce : DOG
10h-11h Challenge : FLASH Responce : THUNDER

Though not in airsoft, we "tsst" at each other for a 'heads up' kind of communication.
CQB-TEAM Education and Motivation.

"Pragmatism over theory."
"Anyone with a weapon is just as deadly as the next person."
"Unopposed CQB is always a success, if you wanted you could moonwalk into the room holding a Pepsi."

I think it's better if these are just used over the radio and not direct verbal commands because if it's direct verbal then you are probably in a situation where you don't have time to decode the code in your mind while doing your job. What do people think?
semper acer , semper velox , semper trux , semper promptus
