Get something that fits 18650 rechargeable batteries, fits either/or your helmet or rifle, has an option for a tactical momentarily on switch and has at least 200 lumen output and the option to switch it on on strobe function.

watch out with the type of lights that have a sharp flanges at the front, because you can easily harm a suspect with those. lawsuits may follow.

Avoid those with a single focused beam and look for ones with a bright spot, and semi bright flood around it, otherwise you risk getting taclite tunnel-vision. this seems to happen to anyone using a beam like a searchlight for airplanes. you focus on what you can see, and focusing the light is what everyone not knowing of this effect does at first.

the more output lumen is always better, but with a light at 600 lumen mode you can hardly read anything on paper because of the blinding effect. your night sight will be gone as-well.
