Conspiracy Nuts... Good for Nothing?

Post by Ryan » Tue Jan 28, 2014 1:47 am

I recently saw a post on Facebook by PoliceOne. They posted a picture of a response team kitted out. Body armour, M4, K9 with body armour, Bearcat.

Image

The post said this: "BearCats, pole cameras, robots and thermal imagers are just a few of the technological advances that help SWAT teams accomplish their missions. Are the technological advances enough to eventually trump tactics?" linking to an article.

Nearly every post replying to the picture were over-the-top misperceptions which lacked any background into the picture or the equipment. For example "It looks like he's ready for war, war in America", "This is terrifying. This guy looks like a cobra commander. No good guy looks like that" and numerous other silly comments. They are all getting attention. There are even apparent posts by 'ex-police' and 'ex-military' (which I suspect is not the case the way they communicate about tactical topics) looking to get in on the fad too stating pure baloney to stir it up.

When I looked further into the profiles of the people posting this junk... I came to the realization that most of them were 'conspiratards'. Some had pictures of 9/11 still playing the same tune "the Government did it, big bad government" crap. Some had pictures of the "big bad government" elsewhere, the CIA and yes, I even saw alien posts. What the hell is wrong with these people? I should also note that some of these people did not use their real name, real photo or any identity. One in fact chose a 'white knight' as a picture, with his cover photo as the white house burning dramatically...

What are your thoughts on these people? Do you think the Police or anyone else has to address them? Even if you give them the facts, for example all the contingencies a Bearcat gives the Police Response Teams, and all the plausibilities that have happened recently (IED, pipe bombs, wall breaches), they would still play it off as a "Government campaign" to insert reason: "Take my guns", "turn it into a Nazi-Germany-like state", "take away my rights", "enslave us". You name, they've said it.

Oh P.S. do not mention the "Jews", "bankers", "Illuminati", "NWO". They were all stated too, lol!!!

Ah, the conspiracy nuts. I read a great book on this a while back. It was called "Among the Truthers: A Journey Through America's Growing Conspiracist Underground".

I see a very clear connection between these Conspiracy Nuts and anti-SWAT types. I recently looked up a subreddit under police and it came up with "Police Brutality" only. And then under "Bad Cop, No Donut" and the same propaganda ensues. Confirmation bias with no backing or knowledge into the subject they are talking about. They're not lawyers, not Law Enforcement and have NO clue.

Here's an argument I had with two of them:

LOLOLOL!!!! You're working your way into a blackhole where no actual information or intelligent common sense is allowed, brother. Unless you just enjoy the argument, go ahead and back out, now. They WANT to believe this stuff. It suits their worldview. What you're saying doesn't and won't be countenanced.

What do you think of the Evansville raid case?

Some conspiracy fuckers saying they will kill these cops (over the internet of course). P.S. many mistakes in gear; for instance their leggings brought up when stepping over the door is going to get you cut to shit, tuck or strap them in. Also, proper boot socks for fuck sakes, lol! Not ankle socks!
