Pictures vs Drawings

Why do some draw as compared to taking pictures?
What do you think is more beneficial?

Maybe they had no camera? Or perhaps they had one but murphy showed up?

Also it could be to do with the fact that it's easier to write notes on drawings as opposed to a picture.
