Re: Thoughts on karambit?

If i was grocery shopping, and carried a knife(i always do, but thats another topic) i would not use my knife in self defense, even if my opponent attacs me with one. as i said a knife had virtually none defensive capabilities. A backpack, shopping cart or any of the shops furniture has more defensi...

Re: A to b steps from sheepdog civilian to federal swat(BORT

I wish you the best in your carreer, i don't know how you advance the ranks, and qualify for your chosen unit. I've asked around in my unit, and no one i spoke planned on this carreer path. the most joined the military and tried to advance into the commando's or marines. Our police personel aimed to...

Re: Duty pistol thoughts (deputy/patrol)

I recently bought a M92f tactical for sports. Its a full frame model of the "M9" in 9x19 with a threaded(14mm ccw) barrel and raised match sights. Mine says berreta, but you may know it as the m9. I have a silencer with it, but using it is illegal over here. I've taken it to the range a few times, b...

Re: Distancing Example

Its not. Its a gunfire inside a 'phonebooth'. What distance? in the video the officers first almost stumble over the suspect, then they back away in a reflex, not a tactically advantagious separation. The video's you posted in your recent posts don't really show how it should be done, and your comme...

Re: Grenade Question

Depending on the stairwell type(full floor turn/half floor turn) and the amount of steps (7 to 12 mainly) and the type of grnade it will bounce once and roll further(not neccesarily) down until the fuse is burnt up. Some grenades have a detonation on impact. If you drop it straight down it will gain...

Re: Perfect Example of the SAS Principles

Can you please defend your statement, because whe have a dead suspect and a child hostage here? Beyond this one source i mean? My job still requires me to get the suspect alive and in front of a judge in most cases. In my military days i would decide to kill, wound or arrest a suspect. now the decis...

Re: Civilian preparations and training tips for swat

I know of no country where you can choose CQB/High Risk Warrants or any other special interventions as a carreer path, the road is long, and very, very few can do the job. You have to be mentally stable, knowledged, physicly fit and have a spotlesss carreer. You can choose a job, but you can't choos...

Re: Special Tactics - CQB Book

We have books from the same author, or 100% surely the same illustrator at home away from home. I can't remember if i have read them, and if they were useful. You must understand we have about maybe 500 to 600 books about warfare, from the 1930's up until today. Despite that fact we never train base...

Re: A to b steps from sheepdog civilian to federal swat(BORT

This may seem very harsh, and it is: - Your federal 'swat' team is border control? - You are a civilian with child and you think you still have time to advance significally in Law Enforcement? - Is US English your main language, because your spelling and grammar may be on par with mine. above all el...

Re: dry fire drills for pistol

You stated you would want a carreer in LE? Don't mind trying to improve your aim with in house dry firing, it can only cause accidents.
How accurate you shoot has very little to do in LE, as far as carreer advancement. Its more related when to shoot what, and even more when not to shoot anything.

Re: Civilian preparations and training tips for swat

Be carefull what you wish for. I started in the military, switched a few branches and saw the world. Back home they couldn't re-use me another time because human suffering eats you from the inside. Then I did several years in the private security consulting, but that wasn't the job for me. 4 months ...

Re: Thoughts on karambit?

Do you know rule #1 in Knife(fightclub)? There is no such thing as training to fight with a knife or to defend yourself against it. only in training. Check out some real knife fights, and you soon discover the person holding the knife is hacking, slashing and stabbing for their life, while the other...

Re: Duty pistol thoughts (deputy/patrol)

I have used(in sequence): Colt 1911; Walther P5/P99; Glock 17; H&K USP Tactical .45/Compact 9x19 P. I am now back with my USP .45, but i enjoy shooting my Berreta M92f in my spare time. Your S&W "glock replica's" should do fine. Most of the work on polymer full frame handguns has already been done 2...

Re: Recommended night sights for pistol?

I employ a laser pointer with a 400Lm tactical light on my new H&K USP. Its not a standard ris rail, so finding a light is quite hard.

Aiming with glowing night sights, is that just for at the range?

Re: Willingness to Kill

I learned in my military years only 2% of general infantry actualy aimed at the opposition, the rest shot in their general direction. This was gathered from facts since Operaton Overlord in Normandy, US actions in korea and mostly the Vietnam war. If someone was within the group that consistently tr...

I always ask for my pizza to have as many slices as possible, because I can't get enough slices.

Limited entry while facing likely or actual opposition is not a cqb technique, its basic survival instinct.

I believe i have told you this before Ryan, but if you do this for a living you try to stick to a plan, but sometimes your opponent isn't with you at the briefing, and they are unaware of your detailed plan. Sometimes they even try to spoil it on purpose. When the plan goes out the window everyone f...

Re: Strategy vs Grand Strategy vs Tactics

Grand Strategy- is the plan or intention of the person/entity who has the highest rank concerning any event, and is a global idea how to accomplish a goal. Hopefully this is all thought out before execution , but can also made far a scenario which may or may not happen . Strategy- is the plan you ma...

Re: CQB - Opposed vs Unopposed?

Opposed- can occur at any given moment in you life, but is more likely if you have to deal with opposition in your work. Unopposed- Is hopefully most of your life, but doesn't harm you at work. It becomes dangerous when an unopposed intervention takes up time you may have spent at a real problem. fo...
