Re: Stack vs Stackless Entries

I think it really depends on the situation. If you're SWAT and you have the building isolated and you have control of the area stacking is great and improves your chances. If you're making breaches in a war zone moving into an enemy occupied city you might not want to take the time to get your perfe...

Re: Airsoft vs Military Members

I actually know the guy that posted that. Here's the thing, most .mil guys that play don't actually shoot that much. Most of them don't actually have lots of experience in CQB. CQB airsofters do. It's not really about military sucks, or military is better... it's who has more experience and lessons ...

Re: Ostrich Effect: Check and clear your corners!

This is why if you can't shoot through the walls you fight from the entry point and clear as much of the room as possible from there and then hit the hard corners when you make the entry.

Re: Kelly Alwood on Making Entry

Dealing with doors is going to have to depend a LOT on which way the door opens, which side of the door you are on (reach across or reach near for the knob) and the layout of the room you're going into. I'd say that initial entry direction will have to depend on %'s of the room. Yes you want the har...

Re: Airsofters Demonstrate...

Problem is the stack wasn't tight and the angles were wrong. The guy taking the video is looking right while mounted on his right shoulder. He's gotta expose his whole body to get a shot. Gotta transition to the left shoulder.

Re: Best Things to Keep Your Attention During Entry

Same as you, but slightly more nuanced. Weapons, particularly weapon orientation. Layout of the area. Lead on areas too, but also how the room will funnel people into certain pathways or shooting angles. I guess that's kind of like your second point. I've found over thousands of reps that angles and...

Re: MMA - Applicable for self-defense?

MMA is great for self defense. MMA sucks for self defense. If you're in a cage with another person in single combat you'd really want to know MMA. If you're a pro fighter and there is a dude trying to kill you with a shotgun from across the room MMA sucks. All situational see? Make it part of the to...

Re: "What the Enemy Should Not Know"

A lot of what we talk about is years behind what bleeding edge is. None of us (I think) are any SF or whatever so we don't know what they develop when they develop it. I'm getting closer to the bleeding edge through some of the people in my training group being some of those special guys. Here's the...

Re: Stood Off From the Door

Ideally you would want to pie the entire door before you enter it and only have to deal with hard corners and any items of cover/concealment. Coming in at an angle instead of directly off the wall is faster but the angle has to be secured (pied) first. If you can't pie the entryway because of the do...

Re: Muzzle up ore down?

As everything the answer is situational. Safety is a primary factor. You don't want to be muzzle up if your family is in the floor above you. You don't want to be muzzle down if you're in the top floor and you have people sleeping in the basement. You don't want to be muzzle down in a boat. You don'...

Re: Soft Stepping

It's a technique to keep yourself from "bouncing" as you walk so you can keep your upper body (and rifle) steady as you move. Much like video camera operators to keep a steady picture free of bouncing or jolting. Bend your knees to drop your gravity. When placing your foot down go heel first then "r...

Re: camelbaks and backpacks

I like having the bladder in the backpanel. I currently have a Mayflower APC with the assaulter backpanel. It has space for a 1L. Top pouch is for NOD, bottom pouch is a rip away FAK. I'll keep more water in the pack, along with whatever other clothing // mags // ammo // food etc. This way you alway...

Re: My team

They were in a LC game on memorial day. They cussed out Col. Mcknight of Gothic Serpant fame. This was after Ronin and the Col butted heads a few times previously at that event. After that evolution was over, Mcknight was walking over to them in the parking lot to try to work things out. They saw hi...

Re: Operating a weapon light (flashlights)

NOD's over white light if at all possible. Not everybody can get into it. 2K is a bit of an expense. I've started using a 952V. It has both an IR and a white light head. I have it on a thorntail mount at 1-2 http://i.imgur.com/kzv3FpB.jpg going to a dual switch on the top rail. I shoot thumb over / ...

Re: Do such sports and games affect reality?

Resurrecting an old thread, but here's my thoughts. It's been a fair few number of years since I've last really been active on these boards. I've since joined more serious Mil-Sim teams, travelling nationally and recognized withing the upper circles of the sport. I've also started taking more shooti...

Re: My team

I'm out of a team now. Mine fell apart due to life. People got married // had kids etc. I've become something of a CQB/MOUT specialist, teams ask me to play with them for these games. I'm not nearly as good in field games. Mostly I play with ODA-556, which was one of the big 3 teams in the mid atlan...

Manila Bus Hostage Rescue

Current events as of 8/23/10 have the manila hostage things all over. Philippino SWAT raided the bus where a single ex-cop held 14 hostages to demand his reinstatement. video of the raid was here: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=manilla+hostage&aq=f Obviously, they did not do well as ove...

If a weapon mounted light is a must then perhaps you could try a pressure switch.
