Skateboards, Segways, Individual Mobility Vehicles

"In the 80s-90s we knew the next war was gonna have a megacity. So they started running wargames and figuring out equipment thinking the next war might be Fulda, or Tokyo. They did crazy camo, skateboards, BMX bikes, knee pads, tons of stuff. Most of it didn't stay, but the kneepads and tomahawks di...

Team Value

"Aim to be a zero. In his book, “An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth”, Chris Hadfield describes how to join a new team at the International Space Station. He describes every team member being either a minus 1, a zero or a plus one. A minus one is someone who takes from the team’s overall effective...

The Daniel Shaver Case

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Daniel_Shaver The video on this one astounded me. He followed instructions for the most part—to me it looked like when he was crawling, he went to pull at his pants. Multiple shots, excessive. One after the other without verification of threat, excessive. In my...

Re: Femoral Bleedout

He said you can 'inject' the stuff in a small wound, and it can stop an 7,62x39 rounds injury within seconds. Also there are types of tourniquet that fit the pelvic area, to stop blood from flowing from the butt down. Heard about it. I saw a few prototypes years ago. I'm unsure about how reliable i...

Re: Islamism/Jihadism

30% of Muslims see the western culture as a threat. 20% of Muslims say they would take up arms to defend their beliefs. As a threat to what? Their way of life? What's so threatening about Western culture that they worry about? That said, I don't like polls like this. I'd take up arms to defend my b...

Re: Spain 17-8 attacks

Low-tech terror makes sense logistically. It's a strategic choice. It also makes recent terrorist events seem more random, requiring less planning and 'shady' activities.

I have a request for anyone who is able to. Can someone archive the full site - forum included?

I have a feeling it won't be here in ten years and Martin will forget to pay the bills one day.

Have we exhausted most of the topic?

I asked this question to jimothy recently but I might as well put it here. Have we exhausted most of the topic of CQB? From the general standpoint of dynamics, not technology, have we exhausted the topic? I mean one topic can spiral you into another, from explosive breaching to blastwave formation a...

He's unarmed, no threat, and clearly in custody. An execution would be more humane.

Re: Islamism/Jihadism

You'd have to back up those claims. Most databases I've looked into suggest the opposite. Worldwide Incidents Tracking System suggests Islamist terrorism is number one. But that's worldwide. Global Terrorism Database, TRAC, Political Tracking Scale, all the same--worldwide. The only studies that say...

Re: Islamism/Jihadism

I don't think it's a razors edge. I think that some religious orders are more likely to lead to violence based off what they teach or how easy violence can be dehistorized, politicized or used today. Aum Shinrikyo for example formed due to one man who made a lot of claims. This founding ideology is ...

Re: Islamism/Jihadism

No one here is pointing the fingers at your everyday Muslim. Hence why the topic is called Islamism/Jihadism - separate from your moderate or nominal Muslims.

I want to make that clear.
