Re: Controlling Shock/Fear Factors

Well, about "fear factor" I can understand the feeling " take as much of them as you can with you ", I felt it in my first time. But I was rookie, they (B-20) are not, at least supposedly. May be it's better analise the books about this theme because the most actions in the movie are unbelievable an...

Re: decender

Good point. I understand you. You right about entry, it's better do it with 8 when both hands working for the procedure. But if you doing distracting staff from outside you can not trust that you will not release the rope if something happen. Another interesting point is: I usually do rappel with my...

Re: decender

Thanks man! I appreciate your comment, please go on. Now, as everything in this life - IT DEPENDS. First - "fig8 and friends are faster" if you look velocity "tuba" is even faster than fig8. Second - "have more control" only if your both hands are available for descending and not carrying an AK, for...

I don't believe the Movie plot and the hostage situation is played out in a realistic manner, but I do believe that the communication and bounding is tactically sound. Although I wouldn't recommend the moving operator turn his back to move at that close distance with guns pointed at him. Yes. You r...

Well I did a lot of rappel descends in a variety of situations but never in a life-fire mission. I can tell, I will never use a non-blocking device in a real situation like an "eight" or ATC. I strongly recommend something like: 1) Petzl-Gri-Gri ( http://www.petzl.com/en/outdoor/belay-devices/grigri...

Don't like it. It's a good sequence for the camera but tactically is nothing.

Hi, I'm Mikhail.

I was in military in my very distant past. Now I work in entertainment industry principally coordinating action and stunt scenes. Often I must train and prepare actors in weapons handling, tactical movements and similar. My concern is that the scenes should be made with decent level of Realizm. So I...

Full body harness is not good

I think, a full body harness is not useful for real tactical environment because usually you have to wearing a tactical vest or ballistic vest, so your full body harness must be under the vest. In this case it's anchorage points will be occult from access. We use a sit harnesses for all kind of move...
